Fallout 4 is worth a replay, but if you’re playing with mods, play it with this expansion installed for a better experience.

Out of all the games in the series, Fallout 4 isn’t the best, but it also isn’t the worst; it has a nice middle-ground between a good story and large open-world, but lacks overall style.

Not to worry though because where Fallout 4 falters, it’s held back up by the modding community, who’ve made so many expansions you could replay it a thousand times over.

The one we’re talking about today is called ‘Project Penultimate Overhaul’, and it’s described as “a list of mods and tools that change the Fallout 4 experience into something more modern and immersive while staying true to the lore”.

The mod’s creator mshor117 goes on to say, “This mod-list is very modular, lore friendly and easily configurable through the MCM. I disliked how easy it was to glide through vanilla on survival, I like the good old days of Fallout 1 & 2 where things were BRUTAL.”

Basically, it makes several gameplay tweaks that give it a challenge boost, so if you were getting bored of the base game and want a tougher experience, this is it.

Unfortunately, expansion mods like this are the only Fallout content we’re going to get for a while, as Fallout 5 is nowhere to be seen and we still have a long wait ahead for the second season of the Amazon Prime Video show.

As long as the modding community keeps these expansions coming though, we’ll always have something new to play – and let’s not forget that Fallout 76 Ghoul update that’s due to land soon.
