Fallout players, like any other type of gamers, want to do one thing in their open-world games, go fishing.
When I think of relaxing in-game activities, fishing is quite high on the list, with games like Stardew Valley, the Animal Crossing games and even Red Dead Redemption 2 providing ample opportunity to let a reel fly when you’re tired or bored.
Fallout 76 continues to thrive following several years of post-launch support, transforming what was once Bethesda’s worst games into something pretty damn great depending on who you ask.
The multiplayer focus isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but you can’t deny a lot of work has gone into it, and it’s keeping us busy until Fallout 5.
Anyway, Fallout 76 players have been able to catch fish in the test servers for the first time in the series’ history.
With lakes and rivers previously being places for the player to drink from can now be fishing spots, allowing you to catch aquatic creatures for food and fun.
It’s a simple addition but gamers go nuts for a fishing minigame, so it’s understandable why Bethesda has decided to throw one in.
Seriously take any videogame and add a fishing minigame to it, it might as well be a Game Of The Year contender.
With the feature coming to Fallout 76 though it opens the door to it being a launch feature in Fallout 5.
Unfortunately it’s a bit earlier to speculate what might or might not be included in the next Fallout game, as Bethesda is currently finishing The Elder Scrolls VI before moving back to its post-apocalyptic RPG series.
That said when production does start on Fallout 5 the developers can use Fallout 76 as a baseline for what should and shouldn’t be included in the game.
