Cyberpunk 2077 has had one of the best comebacks in gaming history but a recent discovery has revealed that fans could have been treated to even more of the futuristic RPG.
From first being released in 2020 in an unplayable state for millions, and even going as far as to be removed from certain online shops, Cyberpunk 2077 is now regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time.
Thanks to dedication and time spent on improving it, CD Projekt RED brought it back and Cyberpunk 2077 has gone from strength to strength after multiple updates, patches, and even its first and only DLC, Phantom Liberty.
Not only that but the game also went onto inspire a Netflix animated show, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which in itself, was met with critical acclaim.
Those who watched the anime will know that the moon plays quite a significant role in the main character’s story and so it is heartbreaking to learn that CDPR originally had plans to bring the moon to Cyberpunk 2077.
Last year, evidence emerged online that a cancelled DLC set on the moon had been in development.
So much development had occurred that images, concept art, blueprints, and file repositories were discovered, as well as map-data that hinted at the lunar location.
In the game’s universe, the moon had been colonised, with cities now situated on its surface. It reportedly has a location of around 58,000 people and would have served as the base of operations throughout the DLC.
According to reports, the moon was going to feature in the base game but CDPR deemed it too ambitious and so planned to work on it for a DLC. However, we now know that Phantom Liberty is the first and only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.
User GeekdomCentral wrote, “We know that they originally had more DLC planned, but that it got canned due to them having to actually fix the base game.
It sounds like this might have actually taken place after the main story? I would have been kind of interested to see where that went.”
However, with the team now working on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, we may just see the moon star in either the base game or a future DLC.
