‘How could you end the season at that point?’

As shocking as the end of Squid Game season two is, it’s definitely been a divisive one with some viewers feeling annoyed by the cliffhanger whilst others felt like it only helped build the anticipation for season three.

But if you left feeling a little bit deflated about how season two of Squid Game ended, you wouldn’t be the only one as Lee Jung-jae who plays Gi-hun in the show also felt confused about the ending.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor admitted he was initially uncertain that a cliffhanger ending was such a good idea as it might “anger” viewers.

He explained: “My first reaction was, ‘How could you end the season at that point?’ I think the audience would be dying to know what’s going to happen next and some may be very angry, actually.

“Some may even curse that it’s ending on such a cliffhanger. But I realized that a lot of people nowadays actually love bold cliffhangers.”

As it turns out the creator of Squid Game originally planned for season two and three to be one bigger story, but it felt like it was getting too lengthy.

As such he decided he needed to break the plot, and whilst he was also concerned about what people would think about such a huge cliffhanger he explained how he decided to end season two when he did.

He admitted: “I thought that that would be just the right moment to end the story. Of course, those watching would feel like, ‘Oh, no. What’s going to happen next? Give us the next episode right now.’

“But I think that because, at that moment, Gi-hun loses everything, he fails all of his attempts, that is when he goes through yet another character transition. So, I thought that was the best place to end the season.”

Please give me the next season as soon as possible, I have so many questions that need answering!
