Kratos is going HOME… and the gods are already trembling.
Leaked God of War screenshots just detonated the internet: the Spartan rage-machine back on Greek soil, Olympus crumbling in 4K, and a mystery figure that looks suspiciously like Athena—older, scarred, pissed. No Norse snow, no Atreus—just blood-soaked marble, cyclops skulls, and a Leviathan Axe dripping ichor. One frame? Kratos roaring at the Parthenon as it burns.
Is this Ragnarök’s epilogue… or the reboot we never dared dream? Peek at the leaks before Sony scrubs them.
Your hype: 1-10? Who’s ready to climb Olympus again? ⚡🏛️

God of War isn’t a dead series just yet as there’s clearly more to come from PlayStation’s biggest exclusive.
Our God of War Kratos is currently living life as a God of Hope but I’m sure it won’t be long before he’s slaying another pantheon, with actor Christopher Judge wanting the next game to be set in Egypt.
Before we head there though fans could have returned to Greece in a now cancelled spin-off game that would have seemingly been set before the events of God Of War 3. The game was being developed by Bluepoint and you can find some of the leaked screenshots online, courtesy of Mp1st.
It’s said that the game was steadily moving through development before Sony got nervous as to how well the game will perform and cancelled it, sort of like what happened with that multiplayer game set in The Last Of Us series.
This God Of War game would have also been a multiplayer title, with some of the gods like Hades popping up as in-game vendors. Apparently Hades would have been something of an armourer, supplying the player with new gear. If Hades was in the game this means it’d be set before the events of God Of War 3, as in that game Kratos finally achieves his goal of wiping out the gods who betrayed him as well as Greece in the process.
In hindsight it probably would have been fun but a far cry from what fans have been wanting from the series, as the revamped gameplay for God Of War (2018) was controversial enough.

Greece Is Not Lost
While Bluepoint’s Greek game was lost to the aether the setting itself did survive in some capacity.
In-lore of course it got wiped out through Krato’s crusade but the God Of War does revisit the location in God Of War: Valhalla, the free roguelite DLC for God Of War: Ragnarok.
If you haven’t played it yet I’d recommend giving it a try, as it does a lot more than turn the game into a temporary roguelite.
Krato’s story from the main game continues as he comes to grips with an offer that could change everything, and seeks out Valhalla to hopefully let the past go and move forward to a brighter future.
Upon completing the DLC you also get a new skin for Kratos that gives him back his original trilogy design, a lovely reward for your troubles.
