Liberty City looks better than ever!
In what could be the best Grand Theft Auto mod ever, you can explore Liberty City in GTA V.
As if GTA V couldn’t be more immersive, you can download an incredible mod that lets you explore Liberty City, the location of GTA IV, and best of all, this mod is available to download right now.
GTA V is one of the most popular video games ever, both critically and commercially. As of August 2024, since the game was originally launched in 2013 before being ported to every console generation, GTA V has shipped over 200 million units worldwide.
What’s more, according to the aggregate website Metacritic, GTA V scored a mighty 97 earning a “Must-Play” accolade. However, while 2008’s GTA IV shipped around 25 million units (largely due to it only being available on three platforms), it did pip its successor on Metacritic with a score of 98.
So it should come as no surprise that fans would love Rockstar Games to release a modern remaster or remake of GTA IV. Sadly, at the time of writing, that’s unlikely to happen but we can get the next best thing.
As showcased by the YouTube channel ‘Games & Graphics’ (thanks Reddit), you can download a mod for GTA V that adds Liberty City, to the popular Grand Theft Auto title.
“This mod brings so many memories back,” said YouTuber user sameernasir1.
“I don’t know who did this, but this is a work of art!” exclaimed Clrjohn.
It’s worth keeping in mind that this GTA IV mod does appear to have some bugs, as suggested by some comments on the YouTube thread but hopefully, you can get it up and running on your PC with no issues.
Details on how to download the mod can be found in the description of the YouTube video.
The next entry in the Rockstar Games series, GTA VI is currently scheduled to be released at the end of this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. That’s assuming it doesn’t suffer a delay.
