With more players having finished their globe-trotting journey through Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, there’s more demand than ever for another Indiana adventure. It’s no wonder that after The Great Circle’s relative success as one of the best-selling games of the season, there’s already been talk about a potential sequel in the future. While nothing is in development or even confirmed just yet, a recent update has confirmed any hopes for a sequel to continue where The Great Circle left off.
Even after completing The Great Circle‘s main story, there are still plenty of secrets and collectibles to uncover, rewarding players for searching every nook and cranny of each location. Dedicated players who have completed all there is to do in The Great Circle hopefully won’t have to wait long for the upcoming DLC, as it will likely delve into more of the Vatican’s deepest secrets. While the details around the Order of Giants story expansion are just as mysterious now as before The Great Circle‘s release, it’s not the only project from MachineGames players should look forward to.
The Great Circle Could Be The Start Of A New Gaming Franchise
Giving Fans More Archeological Adventures

Despite some initial caution from fans, The Great Circle turned out to be a fantastic adaptation of the famous film franchise, letting players jump right into Indiana’s boots on an entirely original adventure. While the positive reception has been clearly acknowledged by its developers, The Great Circle‘s success is rumored to have caught the attention of executives from Disney itself. While they haven’t made an official statement, Jez Corden on the XB2 podcast revealed he heard “Disney picked up the phone and wants more Indiana Jones.”
An exciting new series rivaling the likes of Uncharted and Tomb Raider.
With rumored backing from the monolithic Disney corporation and public support from Lucasfilm’s vice president, it’s even more likely that The Great Circle won’t be a simple stand-alone title. While it will likely be some time until an official announcement is made, The Great Circle could prove to be the start of an exciting new series rivaling the likes of the Uncharted and Tomb Raider series. Overall, it seems there’s general hope for a sequel to The Great Circle among the development team, with members claiming they’re eager to work on another Indiana Jones project if given the opportunity.
Where The Next Indiana Jones Game Could Take Place
Plenty Of Potential For Future Adventures

While a direct continuation of The Great Circle is the most likely option for the period of a potential sequel, there’s still a wide array of exotic locations just waiting to be explored. While Indiana has already taken players to snowy mountains, thick jungles, and roasting deserts, The Great Circle‘s pre-WWII setting would make more Southeast Asian counties an exciting prospect to visit. Seeing an experienced Indiana take on Imperial Japan could make for some interesting new villains to face while exploring a different pre-war perspective of the time.

The Great Circle also benefits from the long-spanning film series, giving the developers the freedom to jump around time to explore different historical events or different characters’ stories. One of the more exciting options could be to delve further into the relationship between Indie and his father after The Last Crusade or team up again with Short Round after the events of The Temple Of Doom. While these inclusions could make for exciting throwbacks, part of The Great Circle‘s success is its ability to tell a well-rounded and self-contained story that doesn’t rely too heavily on the films.
As long as MachineGames keeps up the same consistent quality of The Great Circle while delivering exciting new gameplay twists and cool side quests, they’re bound to have another smashing success.
Disney May Push For A New Indiana Jones Show
A Potential Revival For The Classic Franchise
Given Disney’s explicit interest in the success of The Great Circle and the Indiana Jones franchise as a whole, it wouldn’t be surprising if they announced a TV adaptation sometime in the future. Disney is even dedicating significant resources to creating an entirely new ride and park segment in Disneyworld’s Animal Kingdom based on the beloved film franchise, which could greatly benefit from future films or action-packed gaming projects.
There’s even a hidden Easter egg fairly early on in The Great Circle that references the current Disneyland ride, which could be more than simply paying homage to a fan’s favorite location.
One of the biggest factors in The Great Circle‘s success was Troy Baker’s stunning performance as Indiana Jones. He offered a nearly identical voice that fooled both fans and even the developers themselves and impressed Harrison Ford himself. While it would be strange to see the iconic Harrison Ford replaced by Baker in a future film series, he’s only a few years older than Ford was during The Last Crusade, which could be the perfect chance to fill the gap between the original trilogy and The Crystal Skull.
While most of these hopes are purely speculation for the time being, Disney clearly has high hopes for the franchise’s future and is unlikely to forget the classic series anytime soon. Fans have many reasons to keep an ear out for future Indiana Jones news.
