A Resident Evil fan has created the entire Spencer Mansion from the original game using Unreal Engine 5 and it looks glorious.

Released in 1996, Resident Evil is not only one of the most iconic video games in survival horror ever but one of the most legendary video games of all time across all genres and platforms.

Aside from being charmed by its cheesy cast of characters, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Albert Wesker, as cliché as it sounds, the eerie Spencer Mansion is every bit a character as its human inhabitants. Oh, and zombies and other horrific mutants overrun the mansion.

In 2002, we were treated to the Resident Evil remake on the Nintendo GameCube, which not only made the original game look better than ever, but it added new areas to the Spencer Mansion and its surroundings, as well as new monsters to encounter.

To this day, I believe the 2002 Resident Evil remake is the best remake of all time and if Capcom were to remake this classic game once more using its in-house RE Engine, it would be a sight to behold.

There have been rumours floating around that Capcom might remake the original Resident Evil game again, but nothing has been made official. Yet, as reported by DSOGaming, a talented fan has taken matters into their own hands, powered by Unreal Engine 5.

A video uploaded to the YouTube channel Souls Apart shows a detailed interpretation of the Spencer Mansion based on the original game released in 1996 and not the 2002 remake. By the way, this is the entire Spencer Mansion, and not just the main hall, and a few rooms.

It’s an impressive remake for sure, especially since it was created by a single person with the encouragement of community feedback.

As for what we know is officially coming in the series, Capcom has announced Resident Evil 9 (currently not its proper title) but we don’t have a release date at the time of writing. We’ll let you know as soon as that information drops.
