Park Sung-hoon, the actor behind Squid Game’s trans character Player 120, said he actually slapped the Shaman in season two and it wasn’t CGI or some clever camera angles.

We were introduced to Squid Game’s first transgender character during season two, and honestly, she is probably my favourite. Between Park Sung-hoon’s incredible performance and her ongoing story, I’m really hoping she doesn’t meet her end in the upcoming season three. Please, Netflix!

In a recently uploaded video on the Still Watching Netflix YouTube channel we were given yet another reason to keep her alive: We simply need more slaps in season three!

Player 120 actor Park Sung-hoon had to actually slap her

Park Sung-hoon recently sat down with Netflix to go over some of his iconic scenes from Squid Game season two, which included the six-legged pentathlon scene, Player 120’s friendship with Kim Young-mi, and her history on the battlefield.

He also dished on that viral slap scene that came during the six-legged pentathlon, you know, the moment we all collectively shouted “finally” when the jarring Shaman player was given a reality check.

“Actually, the day we filmed that scene, I was under the impression that I wasn’t actually going to hit her,” the actor explained, and honestly? Me too. “But on the spot, the director asked me to really hit her once.”

Sung-hoon said he felt “terrible”, and to make matters worse, director Hwang Dong-hyuk said the take was unusable. Naturally, they had to try it again, and again.

“So I remember having to hit her two or three times. Afterwards, I got on my knees and apologised,” he added.

I’m just happy that tense moment sparked one of the best scenes in the entire show, and I’m not the only one.
