A very popular WW2 first-person shooter on Steam is currently free to keep forever but, spoiler alert, the platform the game is available on isn’t actually Steam.
Hell Let Loose, a 2021 multiplayer first-person shooter published by Team17, is now available to claim through the Epic Games storefront.
The game has remained consistently popular over the years, as it still pulls in an average top of about 9,000 concurrent players each day. Considering it peaked at around 18,000 concurrent players back in 2022, that’s genuinely pretty impressive for an online-only title.
The PC version of the game also has pretty decent review scores, sitting at a score of 79 out of 100 on Metacritic.
The game is equally well regarded on Steam, sitting at a “Very Positive” score with over 86,000 reviews (84% of which are positive).
Plus, Hell Let Loose also comes with six free pieces of DLC content alongside the free game through the Epic Games storefront.
Over in a thread on the r/pcmasterrace subreddit detailing the news, PC players were pretty thrilled with the announcement.
“Great game,” commented user Thrillog, “Make sure to see yourself through the tutorial and remember – two things win games in this title: garrisons and comms.”
“Being a medic you get some hilarious RP moments,” replied user -hellozukohere-, “I once had a guy tell me his life story while crying after an explosion. 10/10 game.”
That last comment is pretty funny to me because that’s the only reason I know of this game, as clips of people roleplaying very seriously in Hell Let Loose somehow regularly find their way into my recommended YouTube shorts.
The game is only available for free until tomorrow by the way, so hop on it quick if you want to claim it. Just make sure you remember to grab a headset when you fire it up.
