The Witcher 4 is on the horizon, and Ciri is back as the protagonist. But did her time-traveling powers connect her to Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City?

At the Game Awards, The Witcher 4 was officially announced, sending shockwaves through the gaming community with its first trailer. And guess who’s back in the spotlight? None other than Ciri, Geralt’s adopted daughter, who left a lasting impression on fans in The Witcher 3. She is set to take center stage as the main protagonist.

With the new installment approaching fast, it’s about time Andrzej Sapkowski spills the beans on one of the most intriguing easter eggs in the Wild Hunt, concerning Ciri. Yes, the connections between Ciri’s multiverse adventures and the high-tech dystopia she visited. Was it the neon-lit streets of Night City?

As many players of The Witcher 3 will remember, Ciri is no ordinary character. She possesses the power to use magic, especially the extraordinary ability to jump through time and space, a power she has struggled to control throughout her journey. This gift played a vital role in the fight against the Wild Hunt.
There have been many speculating that the world of The Witcher itself is part of a sprawling multiverse. A concept that was made clear toward the end of the 3rd installment, after Geralt accompanies Avallac’h, an elven sage, through several portals, players experience a glimpse of other worlds.
One such world is particularly notable because it seems eerily familiar to fans of another beloved CD Projekt Red franchise: Cyberpunk 2077.
2) Ciri has been to Night City
Ciri has seemingly been to the Cyberpunk universe at some point, she describes it in a ton of detail in this specific dialogue exchange here, I still wish we got a nod to Ciri as a character in Cyberpunk via a side quest. pic.twitter.com/I9X2FQVwMR

In a conversation with Geralt, Ciri recounts how Avallac’h took her to a realm where the Wild Hunt could not find them. They had to stay there for several months, during which she experienced a drastically different way of life. Her descriptions of the world include:
People there had metal in their heads, waged war from a distance, using things similar to megascopes. And there were no horses, everyone had their own flying ship instead.
The descriptions might initially seem vague, but when players connect the dots, they eerily resemble elements from the Night City. The reference to ‘metal in their heads’ strongly suggests cybernetic implants and the ‘things similar to megascopes’ could be a reference to advanced weaponry and technology.
While the details are somewhat vague, it paints a clear picture that it’s possible that she spent months in Night City, navigating its complex, high-tech society. If this crossover becomes real, this could influence her actions and decisions in The Witcher 4, and perhaps even open doors for future crossovers in the Cyberpunk universe.
Why Sapkowski needs to address this connection

The Witcher and Cyberpunk universes are completely separate in their core narratives. However, The Witcher 3 gave us a tantalizing hint that there might be a deeper connection between them. Given Ciri’s presence in both worlds, it’s time for Sapkowski to come clean about the implications of this crossover.
Fans have been speculating for years about the connection between the two franchises, and with the official announcement of The Witcher 4, Sapkowski has an opportunity to clarify whether the hint was intentional or just a curious easter egg for fans to ponder.
If it becomes canon that they are connected in some way, it could open up exciting crossover opportunities between the two franchises. It’s true that both have vastly different tones and settings, but the idea that they share the same multiverse creates potential for rich, cross-universe storytelling in the future.
In the end, with The Witcher 4 on the horizon, it’s high time that Sapkowski addresses the lingering questions about Ciri’s connection to the neon-lit world of Cyberpunk 2077.
