Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not been on good terms with Prince William for quite some time. The Prince of Wales and his younger brother had a falling out not long after Harry began dating Meghan, and ever since Harry’s move to the US, things between the brothers have not improved.

Now, both Harry and Meghan are reportedly feeling some “betrayal” from William due to a recent meeting of William’s — where he met with someone Harry and Meghan do not get along with.

Prince William’s meeting with Donald Trump reportedly upset Harry and Meghan

Earlier this month, president-elect Donald Trump visited Paris for the re-opening of the Notre Dame Cathedral. William attended the event as well, and the two held a meeting while they were together. Trump praised William and the job he is doing as the future king, and while the two men appear to get along well, the meeting reportedly did not sit well with Harry and Meghan. When Trump visited the royal family back in 2019, Meghan noticeably did not attend his dinner (though it should be noted she was on maternity leave at the time).

According to Express, a source told Closer Magazine that Harry and Meghan were “shocked” over William’s decision to meet with the president-elect. “This cuts deep on so many levels and feels like an appalling betrayal for Harry and Meghan,” the source said. “Prince William appeared to get along with Trump very well.”

The source continued, “Of course William was fulfilling a professional role, but Trump has been so vicious towards them, and of course William is aware of that, so Meghan and Harry can’t help but think he could have discussed it with them first.”

Prince Harry and Prince William still aren’t speaking

There has not been any new development in Harry and William’s estranged relationship, which explains why William would not have called his brother to seek permission prior to meeting with Trump. Still, the source said that Harry and Meghan “feel very hurt and betrayed that their feelings appear not to have been taken into consideration.”

It’s hard to know how true that is, given that the source remained anonymous and their relationship to Harry and Meghan is unclear. Still, it’s no secret that the Sussexes do not get along too well with Trump. For now, though, it’s also unclear whether William actually likes the president-elect or was merely keeping things professional by consenting to a meeting.
