There have been reports that the problems with some members of the royal family and Meghan Markle began in the lead-up to her and Prince Harry’s royal wedding.

We’ve heard the Duke of Sussex’s claims that he got into an altercation with his brother after Prince William aired out his feelings about Meghan. And that Harry’s bride and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) had a dispute following Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting.

Now a royal author is sharing that Queen Elizabeth II had to set Meghan straight before the wedding when she overheard the former Suits star speaking to someone.

Prince Harry insisted ‘What Meghan wants, Meghan gets’

You’ve likely heard the story Prince Harry called “Tiara-gate” in his memoir Spare about what diadem Meghan wanted to wear on her wedding day and what she was told she could wear. Harry denied some of what’s been reported. However, the story told by others who were also there is that Meghan had her heart set on wearing a gorgeous tiara with emeralds but royal staffers explained that borrowing that specific headpiece wasn’t an option.

The Sun noted that in his book Charles At Seventy: Thoughts, Hopes and Dreams royal correspondent biographer Robert Jobson claimed Harry and his bride were not happy to hear that and the prince reacted by “raising his voice” and telling his grandmother’s aides, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets!”

Palace sources told Jobson: “There were dressers and flunkies present, guarding and organizing the jewels, so it was inevitable that his now-famous exclamation should find its way to the outside world — ‘What Meghan wants, Meghan gets!’ Her Majesty did not approve. ‘Meghan cannot have whatever she wants,’ [the queen] was reported to have replied. ‘She gets the tiara that she’s given by me.’”

But that wasn’t the only time Queen Elizabeth is believed to have set Meghan straight on how things work and how to treat people in the royal household.

Queen Elizabeth let Meghan know how things worked with 11 words

In her book The New Royals, author Katie Nicholl shared what she was told by a palace insider about another incident that happened at Windsor Castle when the future duchess became upset after tasting a dish for her wedding and the queen overheard the whole thing.

According to Nicholl’s book, Meghan was not happy about one of the vegan options.

She wrote: “Meghan was at the castle to taste some of the dishes and told one of the caterers she could taste egg. She got quite upset, saying that the dish was meant to be vegan and macrobiotic when suddenly the queen walked in.”

Nicholl’s source revealed that Queen Elizabeth then shut the duchess down with 11 words saying: “Meghan, in this family we don’t speak to people like that.”
