Tom Holland revealed that the Spider-Man that fans least enjoy had the most amount of work put into it.

Spider-Man: Far From Home might have had one of the best twist villains in mainstream Hollywood, but it still remains one of the lesser-loved Spider-Man films to come out of the MCU. However, Tom Holland revealed the amount of work he put into the film and the bruises he suffered as a result.

Speaking with Ethos, the actor revealed how Far From Home had to follow up Avengers: Endgame, which might have foreshadowed the Spider-Man sequel’s presence at the box office. While people were keen to see what the world of the MCU looked like after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it might not have had enough stakes to matter to audiences after the battle with Thanos.

Tom Holland revealed that Spider-Man: Far From Home, was one of his toughest Spider-Man films. Not only did the film follow up on the end of Endgame, but it also had Holland doing a slew of stunts by himself, specifically because it did not involve him wearing a mask. He said (via Epoch):
The last one, Endgame, seems to have impressed everyone, so with this one we didn’t want to disappoint. We knew that the stakes were higher. Creatively and emotionally, the arc of Spider-Man has this really dramatic trajectory. And he has really matured, more than I have as a person, so at times I felt like I was reaching to play this character.
And physically, we pushed the stunts to the limit. There’s a sequence in Venice and I’m not wearing the Spider-Man mask, so I would say that I did 99 percent of the stunts, from pole vaulting up a 30-foot bridge, to running across poles and flipping off of buildings…it was crazy. I got a few knocks and bruises.
Spider-Man: Far From Home had one of the greatest villains in the MCU, Mysterio, and that was further compounded by the lasting damage that the character was able to do to Peter Parker. Upon revealing his identity, Parker’s life was thrown for a toss, leading into the events of the much more celebrated Spider-Man: No Way Home.

No Way Home was considered one of the best films in the MCU canon, being the highlight of the multiverse saga for a lot of people. While Marvel has been considered to be in decline ever since the end of the Infinity Saga, the consensus about the Spider-Man films has been largely positive, which Marvel is trying to maintain with Spider-Man 4.
The third film set up a lot of things for Spider-Man’s next installment, which might directly lead into Avengers: Secret Wars, or take place in between Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. It has been rumored that the films between the two Avengers films will take place in Battleworld, allowing Spider-Man’s Secret Wars story to play out from the comics.
