Most of us have warm memories of sitting in front of the family PC and watching as our Sims failed to make it to the toilet on time.
Or perhaps you were one of the players who tortured your Sims in the swimming pool. If either of these examples made you smile, it’s because you’re a fan of The Sims and will be eager to hear about this tease.
As we near the 25th anniversary of the franchise, fans have been spotting several teases that lead them to believe a remake or remastered collection is on the way.
If you’ve tried to run any of the older games, you’ll notice that they don’t play well with all modern hardware.
A return to the series’ roots could end that issue and allow fans to experience the classic games once again.
What are these teases? Well, first off, there’s an official line of The Sims 2 merchandise that recently arrived in Poland.
Then, The Sims 3 just got an update, out of nowhere, fixing an issue where newer Intel chipsets couldn’t run the game.
This usually happens when companies begin looking back at their older titles and digging through the code.
Lastly, a Reddit thread points out that in the recent ‘Behind The Sims” presentation from 14 January 2025, a sound effect from The Sims 2 was used, rather than one from the most recent release, The Sims 4.
Of course, this could all be for nothing, but it has led many to think that even if we don’t get a remake or remaster, it could show that EA are actively updating the older games to make them playable for all.
The series anniversary would be the perfect excuse for some nostalgic playing and a celebration of what made so many of us fans in the first place.
