We finally have our first trailer for Netflix’s upcoming animated movie The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, and fans seem relatively excited about what’s on offer.
A lot of said excitement seems to directly stem from the fact that Doug Cockle, Geralt’s original voice actor from CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher games, is returning for the Netflix adaptation.
He isn’t the only returning cast member either, although he is the only returning cast member from the games.
Both Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey, who played Yennefer and Jaskier in the live-action Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, are also coming back for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.
Over in a thread on the r/witcher subreddit, fans shared their opinions about how the upcoming adaptation looks.
“So it’s an animated adaptation of a book story with Doug Cockle as Geralt? That sounds good to me,” commented user 6poundbagofweed, “I’m not a fan of the show but having Dandelion and Yennifer reprise their roles in animated form is a cool touch too.”
“I’ll probably watch this and enjoy it! And I love that Doug is the VA for Geralt,” replied user buddhamunche, “That being said, does anyone else feel like his voice doesn’t really match Geralt’s design? I feel like they should have made him look a little more gruff/weathered or something.”
Thankfully, if you do like the look of the trailer and you haven’t completely lost faith in Netflix, you won’t have to wait too long to get your hands on the animated feature.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is set to premiere on Netflix on February 11, so in just under a month.
Here’s hoping it sticks the landing, because while the live-action series may have been pretty hit and miss… I think an animated The Witcher series could be worth watching.
